Big old TV cabinet in fireplace

Storage Solutions: Secret TV

The television has come to represent the heart of the home. It's a focal point that is becoming ever more prominent in our often cluttered lives. An entire family or circle of friends can gather round the telly for a shared emotinal experience... mostly though, we usually end up watching an episode of 'Friends' by ourselves. Housing the TV in the redundant fireplace provides a simple intervention, an extra step that serves to interrupt old habits. Do I really want to watch Millionaire... or should I phone a friend? Making a barrier to the remote control may seem crude, but the extra effort required can help us to reflect on the impact passive consumption has on our lives.
